Special Issue on Interdisciplinary Study on Dependability and Scalability of Software Systems

投稿 TCSE 2020 English Session, 並獲選為 Best paper 者,將推薦至此 Special Issue。

Theme

Since software systems are ubiquitous in our daily lives, ensuring their quality is undoubtedly a high priority for software developers. Dependability and scalability are two fundamental quality attributes for software users. Dependability represents the ability of providing services that can defensibly be trusted within a time-period. It is also a measure of system’s availability, reliability, safety, security, and other characteristics of dependable systems. On the other hand, scalability indicates a system’s ability to cope with increased load. Due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, some policies (e.g., the mask-rationing plan in Taiwan, working from home, distance learning) have been accompanied by a drastic growth of software users, thus further confirming the importance of developing dependable and scalable software systems. This special issue is meant primarily to contain selected papers presented at the 2020 16th Taiwan Conference on Software Engineering (TCSE), for which the theme is “Dependability and Scalability of Software Systems”, to be held in Chiayi, Taiwan. Founded in 2005, TCSE provides a forum for researchers to exchange their research results in software engineering. Nevertheless, the special issue is also open to submission of papers from other authors. We encourage submissions on presenting and discussing the most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and concerns in developing dependable and scalable software systems. Major topics of interest are listed but not limited to the following:

  • Debugging, fault localization, and repair

  • Empirical software engineering

  • Fault tolerance

  • Formal methods

  • Security, privacy and trust

  • Service-oriented architecture

  • System dependability

  • System scalability

  • Software analysis

  • Software applications

  • Software engineering tools and environments

  • Software reliability

  • Testing, verification, and validation

Author’s Guidelines

A manuscript must be an extended version of the one submitted to the conference. It must contain a significant amount, at least 30%, of new material. In addition, it must cite the conference paper. In particular, a new title, abstract, experimental or simulation results with more detail discussion and analysis should be added. The submissions should follow the formatting guidelines of the Journal of Information Science and Engineering (http://www.iis.sinica.edu.tw/page/jise/InstructiontoAuthors.html). Any questions regarding this special issue should be sent to the guest editors. All submitted papers will be reviewed by at least three reviewers and selected based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. All submitted papers will be reviewed by at least three reviewers and selected based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. The manuscript should be prepared in JISE Word (or Latex) template and converted into a PDF for auto-submission system. Electronic paper should be submitted to SI_Auto_Submit_System at http://journal.iis.sinica.edu.tw/url/jise-se.
